The Alpine Ski World Cup Comes Back to Czech Republic
The most prestigeous of the World cups, the so called "White Circus" will enter its 41^st year. During its winter tour through the continents of America and Europe (Asia is being skipped this year) it enters thirty-one ski areas in twelve countries. Czech republic can be well proud of  having Spindleruv Mlyn as one of those stop-overs. The world´s best women racers will compete in classical and giant slalom on 5 and 6 January 2008.

For the second time Spindleruv Mlyn will be hosting the Audi FIS Ski World Cup 2008. 

The slalom world champion Sarka Zahrobska will be face of the "Spindl" WC. Among other, Sarka will be defending the third position in the final slalom ranking, and ninth rank in the overall WC table. "We all believe that Sarka and all racers will be successful in front of our domestic spectators," adds Kryzl.

The main organizing centre of the race will be in hotel HORAL, where the race and accreditation offices will be placed. These will be looked after by Danuta Strougalova. The commander of the race course is Pavel Lipansky, and Bohumir Zeman is the director of the whole event. "The organizational committe is almost identical to the one two years ago. The WC is being prepared by an established group of people, who know each other well and can easily cooperate," points out Ales Kryzl, the marketing manager.

As it was during the first "Spindl" WC in 2005, Skiareal Spindleruv Mlyn will be a co-organizer and an important partner of the 2008 WC. "We appreciate the possitive attitude of the Skiarea very much. Thanks to its goodwill and the effort of its director Jiri Beran we came to the agreement that artificial snow techinique will be placed and concentrated on the black race track. As soon as the weather is favourable, we will start snowing. Two years ago we managed to start in mid November," says Bohumir Zeman, who since last year is also the mayor of Spindleruv Mlyn. The town itself is strongly involved in the WC preparations - both vice-mayors are members of the committee. Also the Czech Ski Federation is a co-organizer.

"This time we were able to secure January date for the world cup in Spindleruv Mlyn, which is very fortunate in terms of visitor numbers, as well as snow conditions. On the contrary, there will be more problems with logistics, transportation and accommodation," says the general secretary of the organizational committee Ales Kryzl from Ski Klub Spindl Production. He continues: "The main preparations of the race will carry on through Christmas and New Year´s time, hence in the middle of full season. Thus, all preparartions will be more difficult and carried out so that they will not extensively disturb the city life. It is also important to say that during the preparations and at the time of the actual event the public will be allowed to ski freely, with the exception of the black race piste of course."
